The museum is run by the Schulmuseum Dresden e.V. association. It is not only responsible for the finances, but also takes care of all aspects of the museum, from museum education to the administration of the collections. Founded on 16 April 1997, the association now has over 60 members aged between 20 and 90. Around a third of them are actively involved in the design and operation of the museum. Membership is open to anyone who would like to contribute to the association’s goals.

Possible tasks include:
Leading guided tours
Assisting guests and looking after exhibition rooms
Recording and archiving donations and gifts
Writing the Dresden school chronicle
Repairing defective exhibits
Supporting our IT or funding management teams
